Flaring of woodgas whilst making biochar

Another example of making biochar at home.  Simply get an old paint tin (best to pre burn it to remove contaminants). Then make sure you punch hole in the lid to allow gases to escape (as in the picture below) then insert a strong wire to as as a handle and place over any fire, this will take a a couple of hours depending on the heat of the fire, the particle size and moisture content of the biomass.
This an ideal way to turn small pieces such as wood shavings into biochar. You will have to shake the tin every now an then to insure that all the biomass is turned into biochar
